A Successful Roar Before the 24 in the Park Place Porsche GT3R

Daytona Beach, FL— Nick Boulle hit the track for the first time this past weekend for the Roar Before the ROLEX 24 with his recently announced lineup at Park Place Motorsports. The three strong teammates included the two factory Porsche drivers: Patrick Long (USA) and Matt Campbell (AUS), alongside team principal and driver Patrick Lindsey (USA).

The team drove the brand new 2019 Porsche GT3R at the Michelin Endurance Championship, and they will drive the same vehicle at the ROLEX 24 at Daytona, the Sebring 12 Hour, 6 Hours of the Glen and Petit Le Mans. The upcoming race, the ROLEX 24, is certainly the crown jewel of the championship that fittingly hands the winner of each class the coveted ROLEX Daytona in steel and 18K yellow gold.

The Roar Before the Rolex 24 kicked off the racing season at Daytona as the three-day test served as the final dress rehearsal before the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Roar Before the 24 gave teams in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship the opportunity to test their cars, engines, drivers and crew ahead of the season-opening Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at the Daytona International Speedway. Drivers and engineers ran through pit stops at speed, driver change practice, tune their car’s suspensions and aero settings.

The test marked the first time Boulle had been on the track since a second-place finish in Johnson Equipment Company’s LMP1 car at the Classic 24 Hours alongside Randy Johnson. It also marked his first time in the Porsche GT3 car, which Porsche only debuted weeks before to the world.

Long, Campbell, Lindsey and Boulle each left the test feeling positive about the car’s development and how the weekend shaped up. Boulle is now focused on preparing for the race weekend in the #73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche GT3, with the chance to win another ROLEX Daytona at the top of each of his mind.

The 57th running of the race will mark Boulle’s fourth chance to race for a win at the ROLEX 24 Hours of Daytona, this time in the most competitive category of the race, GT Daytona, which features more than 25 cars in the class. The GT cars feature manufacturers from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, Mercedes and BMW with engines producing up to 550hp and massive aerodynamic upgrades from their road going form.

Boulle commented, “For sure we had a successful weekend. I’m learning the new car well that the two Patrick’s and Matt obviously know very well so I’m excited for the race. The Porsche GT3 car itself is obviously beautiful, but the technology and development behind the car is surreal. It’s going to be a competitive race in GTD so hopefully we’re right where we need to be at the end. I know Patrick Long, Matt Campbell, Patrick Lindsey and myself are going to make for a strong lineup, so now we just have to get there, and see what we can put together!”

The ROLEX 24 Hours of Daytona takes place Jan. 26-27 with the green flag waving Saturday, January 26th at 12:35 pm. ET and concluding Sunday, January 27th at 12:35 pm.
