^deBoulle Motorsports & AFS / PR1 Team Complete Roar Before the 24

Daytona Beach, FL— Nick Boulle hit the track for the first time this past weekend at the Roar Before the ROLEX 24 with his recently announced teammate lineup of Gustavo Yacaman, Sebastian Saavedra and Roberto Gonzalez. The newly formed AFS/PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports team completed three days of testing in preparation for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the first event and crown jewel of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The Roar Before the 24 gives teams in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship the opportunity to test out their cars, engines, drivers and crew ahead of the season-opening Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at the Daytona International Speedway road course.

The test marked the first time Boulle has been on the track since his win at the ROLEX 24 Hours of Daytona. Boulle is keen to get back behind the wheel of the AFS / PR1 Motorsports’ LMP2 car. The drivers focused on driver changes as well as doing their best to find a set up for their LMP2 race car, the #52 Ligier JS P217, and the Daytona International Speedway race track.

The 56th running of the race in 2018 will mark Boulle’s third chance to race for win at the 24 Hours of Daytona, but this year stands out as he competes in the IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship’s most premier category, Prototype. The Ligier JS P217 LMP2 car meets the World Endurance Championships standards for LMP2 cars. Thanks to more than 600 horsepower produced by its 4.2 Liter V8 Gibson Technology engine, advanced aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fiber chassis, the car will reach speeds of 200 miles-per-hour.

“It felt great to be back on the banks at Daytona. The Roar Before the 24 always goes quickly, but I think we accomplished a lot. We have a few weeks to take a step back and develop a plan of attack for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The focus now is solely on developing the car for the race with all of the data we gathered through the weekend.”

The end of the testing period is marked by a qualifying session that determines pit road and garage space selection.

The 2018 running of the Daytona 24 Hours will see the green flag on Saturday afternoon, January 27th, and finish on Sunday afternoon, January 28th after two full trips around the clock. Each year, both overall winners and class winners at this legendary and grueling 24-hour endurance race receive ROLEX Daytona timepieces in addition to the winner’s trophies. The 2018 IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship will kick off coverage starting at Saturday January 27th at 2:30PM on FOX Sports 1 and continue through January 28th between FS1, FS2 and IMSA.tv for a full 24-hours of coverage. The FOX Sports GO app will also have 25 consecutive hours of Rolex 24 programming, with live streaming throughout North America.
